SANTO DOMINGO, WILLEMSTAD - The Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) and the Curacao Porth Authority signed this Tuesday an international agreement of sister ports.
As reported by the companies, through a press release, the objective of the agreement is to strengthen ties and exchange information to improve port management and processes in both nations. They also want to position the Caribbean as a world-class cruise destination.
The document that makes the commitment of both companies official was signed by the executive director of Apordom, Jean Luís Rodríguez and Humberto de Castro, manager of the Curaçao Porth Authority, within the framework of the Sea Trade Cruise Fair that takes place in Miami.
The international agreement of sister ports is valid for three years.
The agreement contemplates the exchange of information freely and without restrictions, related to the cargo and cruise industry in each port, as detailed by the letter.
Likewise, it includes historical statistics related to each institution, projected port infrastructure developments and general marketing research, aimed at increasing the cruise traffic and cargo in both ports.
In addition, internal processes related to HSEQ (Health, Safety, Efficiency and Quality) and maritime operations will be shared.
Both port authorities will work on the formation of technical workgroups, to exchange educational visits and act as ambassadors of goodwill between the two.
Finally, the parties agreed to the possibility of evaluating other destinations in the area, to create a plan of joint itinerary packages to be offered to the cruise lines.
