WILLEMSTAD - Utility company Aqualectra is going to build a new office at the Nieuwe Haven. The permit was granted yesterday by the Minister of Economic Development Ruisandro Cijntje. The control center must provide accommodation for the people of the Power Supply Chain department, who are responsible for the supply of power to Curaçao.
The building will have two floors and with a surface area of 1,300 m2 will accommodate 112 people. Aqualectra has budgeted the construction at seven million guilders. This was already allocated in 2018 for construction and relocation.
The building is sustainably designed. Durable materials are used that keep the heat out and thus ensure a fresh climate inside. The power comes from solar panels on the roof.
The new Power Supply Chain building is expected to be completed in the course of 2022.
There are now also plans for the construction of a new main building for Aqualectra on the site of the plant on the Dokweg.
