WILLEMSTAD – Aqualectra’s first commercial bond program, the newly introduced Aqua-Bonds, has been declared a success after the subscription period closed on October 31, 2025. The utility company confirms that the total issuance of XCG 75 million was fully subscribed, slightly surpassing the initial target. This strong demand reflects what Aqualectra describes as the “undeniable confidence” investors have placed in the company’s financial stability and long-term vision for Curaçao’s energy future.
The bonds were officially listed on the Dutch Caribbean Securities Exchange (DCSX) on November 15. Aqualectra states that it is eager to work with all investors who contributed to this milestone, emphasizing that each investment represents a commitment to a more reliable, affordable and sustainable utility service for Curaçao, not only for today but also for generations to come.
The Aqua-Bonds initiative was formally launched on October 2 as part of Aqualectra’s ongoing modernization strategy. Through the program, companies, organizations and individual citizens were able to participate with investments starting at XCG 50,000, carrying interest rates between 5.00% and 5.20% and maturities of 5.5 and 7 years. Funds raised will support infrastructure upgrades, grid expansion, digitalization and projects related to sustainable energy.
Aqualectra highlights that the subscription and issuance process proceeded smoothly, with the professional involvement of Amicorp as the transaction agent and Fortisa Capital, led by Timba Engelhardt, as principal advisor. Local financial institutions including Maduro & Curiel’s Bank, Vidanova Bank, Banco di Caribe, Amicorp and PYGG played key roles as brokers.
In its communication, Aqualectra expressed gratitude to every investor who placed trust in the company’s financial strength and pledged to honor that confidence through continued responsible management.
