ORANJESTAD - The Aruban news site NoticiaCla.com reported today that Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes indicated that her island is not contemplating the reopening of the border with Venezuela while the pandemic is still raging. The premier’s reaction came after Maduro declared during an international press conference that he wants to resume relations between Venezuela and Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire.
The Aruban Premier indicated that once the pandemic is more under control, the island can resume the deliberations with Venezuela based on past agreements. It is possible to partially reopen the border with Venezuela under certain conditions.
The Curaçao government has not reacted officially to Maduro’s declarations.
