Black and white ballots remain a mystery

Main news | By Correspondent March 24, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Where these ballots there or not? The black and white ballots have been keeping Curaçao busy for days now. Many people make statements on social media that they voted on a black and white ballot. These votes would be declared invalid, but they cannot be found anywhere.

Chairman of the Electoral Council Raymond "Pacheco" Römer still declares in the media that there are no black and white ballots to be found. Römer "The only explanation I can find is that they changed color in the ballot box."

Lawyer Achim Henriquez assists UKPK leader Raichel Sint Jacoba in the complaint against the Electoral Council. Henriquez: “Some packages in which the ballots were collected were no longer sealed. Thorough investigation is needed, but I fear the worst: that there are some serious issues with the ballot counting.”

Several people have also indicated to the reporters at Curaçao Chronicle that they indeed voted on a black and white ballot. To the question why they did not report this to the president of the polling station. To this they answered that they simply did not know that they had to do that.
