BREAKING: British corona variant detected in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - A person in Curaçao has tested positive for the British variant of the coronavirus. The government reported in a press release tonight. The Curaçao government has sent test samples to National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands, where the British variant has been discovered.

 

The person who tested positive for the British variant is a Curaçaoan who was tested in the week of January 17-26. This person has not been abroad, but has been in contact with someone who came from the Netherlands and who also tested positive for the virus.

In response to this new incident, the government emphasizes the importance of adhering to the rules. This Friday at 2 pm, the government will explain more in a press conference.
