WILLEMSTAD - The budget deficit decreased by 8 million guilders in the first quarter. The Committee for Financial Supervision (Cft) reports this.
Nevertheless, the deficit still remains 38.5 million guilders and without intervention at the end of the year a deficit of 112 million guilders is expected. The government debt ratio has risen to 45.3%, just above the 45% upper limit applied by the Cft.
