CBCS introduces new system for direct transfers

Main news | By Correspondent January 3, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) introduces the 'Instant Payment System'. This means that local transfers to banks are processed immediately. The new system deposits the transaction amount directly into the correctly stated bank account number and does not recognize incorrect numbers. In case of an incorrect account number, the payments will be returned.

Banco di Caribe is launching a campaign to draw attention to the correct recording of their account numbers. Banco di Caribe account numbers consist of eight consecutive numbers and do not have dots, commas, stripes, spaces or other symbols.

The bank states that for companies that are account holders with Banco di Caribe, it is essential that the correct account number is stated on all official documents and invoices. This is to prevent transaction amounts not being deposited into the relevant account.

Banco di Caribe advises everyone to check their list of beneficiaries at the time of making an individual transaction and to ensure that invoices and other official documents have the correct account number. This prevents an important transaction from not being processed.
