WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has started the National Accounts survey for the 2020 financial year.
The purpose of this research is to collect business data from financial companies, non-financial companies, public limited companies, foundations, associations, and sole traders. The collected information is consolidated together with administrative data from other sources and this results in an overview of the economic development of Curaçao.
This information is usually obtained from a company's financial statements, but in small sole proprietorships, an estimate is made based on daily or weekly turnover.
About 1,450 companies participate in this annual survey. All companies and institutions with 10 or more employees (large organizations) are approached every year. A sample is drawn from companies/agencies with less than 10 staff (small organizations). If your company, foundation or association falls into this sample, you will continue to participate in this survey for 4 consecutive years. After these 4 years, small companies and institutions are exempt from participation for at least 6 years.
Due to the measures taken by covid, the National Accounts survey is conducted online.
The information from the annual survey is used to complete part of the National Accounts of Curaçao. These National Accounts reflect the economic transactions between the sectors that have taken place in the national economy in a given year.
CBS would like to thank all companies in advance for their cooperation in this study. Without the cooperation of the companies it is difficult for CBS to produce official economic statistics for Curaçao.
