WILLEMSTAD — Haven Curaçao is a new high-end Food & Beverage concept located at the West End building in Otrobanda, representing another successful investment project supported by the Curaçao Investment & Export Promotion Agency (CINEX).
Inspired by Curaçao’s charm, rich cultural heritage, and growing potential as a premier destination, entrepreneur and consultant Mr. Remy Awkar connected with CINEX in January 2024 to explore investment opportunities on the island.

With over 15 years of experience in leadership, Food & Beverage, and hospitality, Mr. Awkar - following extensive market research - decided to establish Haven, an upscale restaurant, lounge, and cocktail bar offering a distinctive futuristic dining experience within the West End project. Designed to become a new hotspot for both locals and visitors, Haven delivers a creative menu crafted from the freshest ingredients, a striking interior design, and one of the island’s most impressive views.
CINEX facilitated key connections with property representatives and provided access to Curaçao’s Investment Guide and Fiscal Incentives. Through this support, Mr. Awkar benefited from the Residence by Investment Permit Program following an investment exceeding XCG 1 million.
In addition, CINEX supported the project by connecting Mr. Awkar with cargo companies, local suppliers, and service providers, while assisting in the facilitation of permits and licenses to help streamline the development process.
“Haven is more than a place; Haven is a feeling,” said Mr. Awkar. “After many visits to Curaçao and my decision to move and live on this beautiful island, I was able to bring this project—and my dream—to life. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunities Curaçao has offered me as an investor and business owner. I look forward to many more projects that will showcase what we can create on the island for the world to experience. CINEX has been instrumental in supporting me throughout this journey.”
Miles Mercera, CEO of CINEX, added: “We are proud to see visionary entrepreneurs like Mr. Awkar choose Curaçao not only as a place to invest, but to call home. Projects like Haven elevate industry standards and reflect the creative and sustainable energy shaping the future of our economy.”
Minister Roderick Middelhof of the ministry of Economic Development, stated: “Investments such as Haven demonstrate the confidence international entrepreneurs have in Curaçao and the opportunities emerging in our urban districts. Through CINEX, we remain committed to facilitating quality investments that create jobs, strengthen our business climate, and contribute to the revitalization of key areas like Otrobanda. These projects also generate a strong spinoff effect by raising service standards and enhancing local competitiveness.”
The Haven project is expected to increase foot traffic, create employment opportunities, and strengthen local engagement, reinforcing Otrobanda’s position as a key cultural and economic hub.
