CMC Introduces Advanced AI-Driven Radiotherapy System, a First in the Caribbean Region

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has launched a cutting-edge AI-driven radiotherapy platform that promises faster, more precise and less burdensome cancer treatment for patients on the island. With the introduction of the Elekta One system, powered by MIM Software, CMC becomes the first hospital in the region to deploy this advanced technology.

According to CMC, the new system significantly shortens the time between a patient’s CT scan and the start of therapy. This accelerated workflow allows treatments to begin earlier while offering greater protection for healthy organs thanks to AI-enhanced planning accuracy. As a result, patients experience fewer side effects and an improved quality of life.

The implementation involved collaboration between Elekta One and multiple technical and medical teams within CMC. The hospital notes that the upgrade also serves as a crucial step toward future radiotherapy innovations and more sophisticated equipment.

“With this development, Curaçao positions itself as one of the frontrunners in Latin America and the Caribbean in the field of modern cancer care,” CMC said.
