WILLEMSTAD – The Emergency Department of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) registered a total of 30 emergency cases during the holiday period between December 24, 2025, and January 1, 2026. The incidents were related to traffic accidents, fireworks, stabbing incidents, and physical violence.
According to the hospital, ten patients required admission, while no fatalities were reported during this period.
CMC treated six patients with burn injuries, five of which were caused by fireworks. One burn incident was not related to fireworks. Three of the burn victims were admitted for further treatment.
In addition, the Emergency Department received seventeen patients following traffic accidents. Six of those patients required hospitalization due to the severity of their injuries.
The hospital also registered one stabbing incident and six cases involving physical violence.
CMC noted that the holiday period traditionally places increased pressure on emergency services and reiterated the importance of responsible behavior, particularly in traffic and the use of fireworks, to help prevent injuries during festive celebrations.
