Main news | By Press release September 14, 2020

It is important to continue to guarantee care for patients

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will strengthen its emergency department as of this week. This is to temporarily replace the staff members affected by COVID-19. In collaboration with Bonaire, AMI (American Medical team) and Defense, support has been arranged for the CMC. In total, seven (7) CMC personnel have become infected with COVID-19, three of whom are employed in the emergency department. In the meantime, one of these seven employees has recovered.

CMC continues to emphasize the importance of maintaining the COVID-19 protocol within the hospital and urges everyone to adhere to the rules of social distance and hygiene outside the hospital in daily life. All employees of the CMC who come into direct contact with patients are provided with a mouth mask by the hospital in accordance with the COVID-19 protocol. In addition, all healthcare providers and staff who are not in direct contact with patients receive a "Face Shield".

All appointments will continue as planned, but CMC will continue to take the necessary measures for the safety of our patients and our staff. These rules include, for example, wearing a mouth mask when entering the hospital. Access to the hospital is also no longer possible without an appointment. The only exceptions apply to persons who have to accompany a patient or persons who have received permission from the specialist or the head of nursing.

Access to the hospital

Access is only possible via the west entrance (at KFC) or via the parking garage.

In an emergency, the hospital can be reached via the northern entrance (Hamelbergweg / Roodeweg).

There will be strict controls at the entrance; everyone must therefore be in possession of a valid ID when entering the hospital.

As is known, there is currently one COVID-19 patient hospitalized.
