WILLEMSTAD - The new government does not only want local members and European Dutch citizens in Caribbean Organ for Reform and Development (COHO), but also an international member who checks the measures. This was announced by Minister of Finance Javier Silvania today during his first official press conference.

The minister mentioned that it concerns a COHO 2.0 that is now on the table. Silvania also indicated that 'financial programming' of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) must recalculate the measures requested from the Netherlands.

This week a delegation of Dutch officials is coming to attend meetings about the COHO. Silvania hopes that a form of COHO can be reached that both countries can agree with.

This minister also indicated that Curaçao no longer has enough money to meet the costs this month. This means that civil servants' salaries, care, and social assistance can no longer be paid.

Due to the lockdown, revenues have fallen sharply, and costs have risen high. It is five to twelve, according to the minister.

According to Silvania, action must now be taken as quickly as possible to reach an agreement with the Netherlands. In the further forecast for this year, the deficit would rise to more than half a billion guilders in December.

Sylvania urges parliament to swiftly pass two laws to cut salaries of ministers and Members of Parliament.
