Confusion in parliament

Main news | By Correspondent January 15, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - It is not yet certain when Emmilou Capriles' credentials will be addressed. As is known, the meeting in the Curaçao parliament did not take place yesterday. The opposition wanted to prevent Capriles's credentials from being discussed. But according to the President of Parliament that was not on the agenda.

The next meeting of Parliament is scheduled for January 25. Then the credentials could be addressed, but it is not yet certain that it will happen. Jeser El Ayoubi of the PAR returned his seat in Parliament to his party, the coalition partner PAR, this week. Capriles must succeed him.

Last night, the message went around on social media that contact must first be sought with Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé. Capriles cannot be sworn in until Alcalá-Wallé definitively renounces the seat since she is next in line.
