WILLEMSTAD – Consumer prices in Curaçao recorded a modest increase in October 2025, according to figures released today by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The overall price level rose by 0.1 percent compared to September 2025, while the inflation rate remained unchanged at 1.7 percent.

Monthly Price Development

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased from 105.1 in September 2025 to 105.2 in October 2025, reflecting a 0.1 percent rise month-on-month. Price increases were observed in three main expenditure categories during October.

Housing costs saw the largest increase, rising by 0.3 percent. Prices in the category of Transport and Communication went up by 0.1 percent, while the category “Other expenditures” also recorded a 0.1 percent increase. Prices in the remaining expenditure categories remained largely stable compared to the previous month.

Long-Term Inflation Trend

Inflation reflects the loss of purchasing power over time, as consumer prices for goods and services increase over a longer period, typically measured over 12 months. The inflation rate is widely used as a reference for adjusting salaries, pensions, social benefits, the minimum wage and other forms of income.

Inflation for a given month is calculated by comparing the 12-month average CPI for that month with the 12-month average CPI for the same month one year earlier. Over the twelve-month period ending in October 2025, consumer prices in Curaçao rose on average by 1.7 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

During this period, the 12-month average CPI increased from 102.6 in October 2024 to 104.3 in October 2025, indicating a continued but moderate rise in the cost of living on the island.
