THE HAGUE - The Kingdom Council of Ministers has increased pressure on the government of Curaçao to take the recommendations of the Financial Supervision Board (Cft) seriously. Today, the Council of Ministers has aligned itself with the repeated urgent call from the Cft to adjust the budget for 2023.
Minister of Finance Javier Silvania disagrees with the recommendations and refuses to incorporate them into a budget amendment. This prompted State Secretary for Kingdom Relations Alexandra Van Huffelen to request the Council of Ministers to endorse the Cft's call during today's meeting. This request has been granted. It is unknown whether Minister Plenipotentiary Carlson Manuel has opposed it.
Van Huffelen, through her spokesperson, states that she "expects" the Pisas cabinet to eventually address the recommendations in the coming months.
