WILLEMSTAD - The Court of Justice distanced itself from the negative reports that appeared in the media yesterday and today. In these reports, the presidents of two trade unions accuse the Court of Justice that, among other things, the KNSM building has caused permanent damage to the health of employees, that sick employees are intimidated and that the investigation reports are superficial. The Court deeply regrets that such statements are made. In fact, there is an underlying individual labor dispute that must have its legal course and which the Court cannot comment on.
A number of employees of the Court have been placed in the KNSM building since the end of 2018, after they have had health problems as a result of the air quality in the City Hall. Health complaints have also been reported in the KNSM building since mid-July 2019. As a result of these complaints, the Court has had investigations carried out three times by different authorities to determine whether temporary accommodation was a responsible working environment. The result is that the KNSM is responsible for the Court as a temporary working environment and has no harmful consequences for the health of employees.
All complaints are taken seriously, and the Court always takes the necessary measures in the interest of the health of employees.
Move
The Court is busy preparing for the July recess to move to the former KPMG building on the Emancipatieboulevard. All employees of the Court will be housed there.
