WILLEMSTAD - The Temporary Assistance for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs (TBZO) and Emergency Measure Bridging Employment (NOW) schemes will be discontinued. Minister Ruisandro Cijntje of Economic Development announced this during the Report of the Day.

The government has been providing support to business owners in Curaçao since the start of the pandemic. In June, additional criteria were added to qualify for the so-called corona support.

“Considering that the economy is currently stabilizing again, and the financial situation allows it, the Council of Ministers has decided to stop all support for business owners as of October 1, says Cijntje. Applications and payments up to the end of September will be processed retroactively.

The minister emphasizes that the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) is working hard to ensure that everything runs smoothly. According to Cijntje, the adjustments will not cause a delay in current applications.
