SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - The dream come true for the Curaçao baseball team in the little league World Series. For the Vancouver Little Mountain Little Leaguers, that's over, despite a desperate rally in the sixth inning, Canada was defeated 4-2 and eliminated from the title fight by a well-developed team from Willemstad.

Canada, which previously beat North Brisbane, Australia 7-0 and Takarazuka, Japan 6-0 in the 75th Little League World Series, saw the bats go cold in a 10-0 loss to Matamoros, Mexico. The team from Vancouver only scored five scattered hits against Curaçao.

Lucas Weisser, the starting pitcher for Canada, worked 3.2 innings and struck out three. Unfortunately, he walked six which allowed Curaçao to book some early runs. In fact, Curaçao had only five hits in the entire game, but scored twice in the first inning to leave the bases loaded. They scored two more runs in the third, then let their pitchers and defense steer them to victory.

Canada got chances to score in the third, fourth and sixth inning, but couldn't come up with any timely base hits, leaving five baserunners behind.

Curaçao plays today against Managua, Nicaragua. The island started the tournament by beating Nicaragua 2-0, before losing 9-3 to Panama and recovering with a thrilling 1-0 win over Italy.

Reangelo Decaster was the winning pitcher. The righthander lasted four innings, gave up one base hit and no runs and struck out six. Oshondrickson Doran and Davey-Jay Rijke came out of the bullpen and helped to close the game in relief. Davey-Jay recorded the last three outs to earn the save.
