The buildings of the former Curaçao house do need to be renovated. The intention is to use the money from the sale of the property on Prinsengracht for this.

The current minister plenipotentiary, Anthony Begina indicated that the decision to return to the old Curaçao house is a task of Parliament, which have laid it down in a motion.

The old buildings on Badhuisweg are still owned by Curaçao. The sale never took place Parliament did not approve it.

Marvelyne Wiels

The General Audit Chamber of Curaçao investigated the circumstances in which the decision-making on the purchase and sale of old and new was decided.

Its verdict was devastating. The then Minister Plenipotentiary Marvelyne Wiels acted on her own initiative and was covered by then Prime Minister Ivar Asjes and the former Minister of Administration and Planning, Etienne van der Horst.

The Court of Auditors has urged to find out whether the ministers concerned, including Ivar Asjes and Marvelyne Wiels, could be held liable.
