Curaçao liquidity support held until further notice

Main news | By Correspondent September 24, 2021

THE HAGUE - The Dutch liquidity support for Curaçao has been held up until further notice during the Kingdom Council of Ministers. The liquidity support for St Maarten was granted and a decision on Aruba will be taken at the next Council of Ministers.

The decision on the 7th tranche of liquidity support for Curaçao was postponed until further notice, as the documents were submitted late by the Curaçao government. According to a spokesperson for Undersecretary Raymond Knops (Kingdom Relations), it was not yet possible for the Netherlands assess these documents.

If Curaçao meets the conditions, the Netherlands will still agree to the granting of the liquidity support. It is as yet unknown when exactly the Netherlands will inspect the Curaçao documents. But according to sources, that is expected to happen next week.

Incidentally, the Board of Financial Supervision (Cft) has issued a negative advice for liquidity support to Curaçao.

The 7th installment to St Maarten will be transferred as this country has submitted its documents on time and meets all the conditions set by the Netherlands. Aruba will have to wait until the next Kingdom Council of Ministers.
