WILLEMSTAD, THE HAGUE - The Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao Carlson Manuel has visited the Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten to discuss the options for the export of hydrogen for Curaçao.

Jetten has written a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives about this. Curaçao would have excellent locations for offshore wind energy. These can be used to produce raw materials to make Curaçao a regional hydrogen hub in the long term.
Together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Jetten will carry out a certification pilot. Jetten wants to be able to brief the House on the results of this before the end of this year.
Hydrogen is a clean fuel, made from water and electricity. Hydrogen is suitable for replacing natural gas for heating or petrol in cars, for example.
