Curaçao receives sixth part of liquidity support from the Netherlands

Main news | By Correspondent August 31, 2021

WILLEMSTAD, THE HAGUE - Curaçao will still receive 95.5 million guilders from the Netherlands for the third quarter of this year. Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops announced this in a letter to the Dutch Parliament on Tuesday.

Since the beginning of 2020, Curaçao, like Aruba and Sint Maarten, has received liquidity support to absorb the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Curaçao first had to meet a number of conditions in order to be eligible for the second partial tranche of the liquidity support.

According to Knops, the island now meets the conditions. The Kingdom Council of Ministers has decided to grant Curaçao 168 million guilders liquidity support under certain conditions, divided into two partial tranches. The first part of 72.5 million guilders was awarded on 15 July.
