WILLEMSTAD - The government is announced today that the curfew starts now at 9 p.m. The curfew has been in effect for some time from midnight to 4.30 am. The government announced additional measures during a 'Relato di dia' at 3 p.m. The curfew will begin from 9:00 PM to 4:30 AM.

On September 14, a curfew was imposed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to stem the rise in corona infections. That was shortened to a ban on being on the street between midnight and 4:30 a.m. on November 7.

Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath then said that it is so slowly going back to normal life on the island. Scaling up the measures was inevitable. Wearing a mouth mask is also mandatory in most places.

The number of infections has increased enormously since last week. On Wednesday, the record number of 51 new infections was reported and the following days the number of infections was higher than the average in recent times.

The Relato di dia was given by Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, Justice Minister Quincy Girigorie and epidemiologist Dr.Izzy Gerstenbluth. They called on the population to adhere to the new measures. These apply from tomorrow.
