ROTTERDAM - Customs discovered a total of 421 kilos of cocaine with a street value of approximately 31 million euros in the port of Rotterdam on Wednesday, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service (OM) reports. The drugs were hidden in two containers filled with bananas and medical devices.
395 packages of cocaine were hidden in a container loaded with medical devices. The cargo of medical devices from the Dominican Republic was destined for a company in Hoogvliet in the Netherlands.
The second container, which was loaded with banana puree, contained 26 packets of cocaine. That cargo also came from the Dominican Republic and was on its way to a company in Switzerland.
According to the authorities, the companies probably have nothing to do with the smuggling.
