Deliberations about a new university

Main news | By Correspondent October 14, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Economic Development Dr. Steven Martina said in parliament yesterday that negotiations are currently underway for a new international university in Curaçao. Martina stated that the plans are already well advanced. This is an institution, as the minister calls it, that will offer transnational education. Initially there will be room for a number of between 300 and 500 students. But that can grow to more than two thousand.

Martina said yesterday while discussing his ministry's budget for 2021. Transnational education means that institutions offer their courses entirely abroad. This is already happening with American universities in the Caribbean and in the rest of the world, among others. Dutch educational institutions are also working on this.
