Departing board leaves RdK with positive results

Main news | By Correspondent October 8, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The outgoing board of the Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) leaves the public company with positive results. For example, current interim director Marcelino de Lannoy expects a projected profit of 76 million guilders for 2021, despite the refinery's shutdown.

The state-owned company has also won more than $50 million in assets from debtor PDVSA in several lawsuits. The RdK also managed to prevent an arbitration procedure that the Klesch Group wanted to start against the country Curaçao.

The management and supervisory board have indicated this in a letter to the government. They also announced their resignation in that same letter. In this letter the managment shows that RdK was able to successfully stop the legal steps that the Klesch Group had taken against Curaçao.

The German company wanted to sue Curaçao for ceasing the negotiations to take over the operations of the refinery. This happened in 2020 under the Rhuggenaath government.
