WILLEMSTAD - The National Ordinance revision Oostpunt (east side of the island) will remain in its current form. The judge ruled on Wednesday. Environmental organizations Carmabi and Amigu di Tera had appealed against the National Ordinance for the development of the area.
The National Ordinance states how, where, and how much of the Oostpunt area may be developed. Various environmental organizations are concerned about the damage to nature that will occur during the developments.
The judge ruled that the National Ordinance for the revision of Oostpunt has been carefully drawn up and allows appropriate developments. Some of the objections were rejected and others were declared unfounded. In addition, according to the court, there are only limited options for review, because the legislator has made certain considerations when adopting the National Ordinance.
