Eugene Rhuggenaath congratulates Gilmar "Pik" Pisas on Curaçao election victory

WILLEMSTAD - In a Facebook message, outgoing Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath thanked the people of Curaçao for the support they have given him, the cabinet, and his party PAR in the past four years.

11,788 people voted for the yellow party, gaining four seats in parliament, two less than four years ago.

The outgoing prime minister says he is proud to have served the country. “I am proud that I have been able to keep my promise to you; A stable government.”

According to Rhuggenaath, the country has faced many challenges and it has not been easy. “But despite that, I remained focused on my task as a leader; The well-being of everyone in Curaçao and Curaçao as a country.”

In it, nothing has prevented him from doing his job with love and perseverance. “I was able to lay the foundation for Curaçao and I would have liked the opportunity to continue the work,” said the outgoing prime minister.

Rhuggenaath says that the people decided and that is what they did in the elections. “I respect this decision. We live in a living democracy. During the elections there was a big turnout, and I am therefore happy to see how many people have made use of their right.”

The outgoing prime minister congratulates Gilmar “Pik” Pisas on his party's victory and wishes him all the best in his position.

Undersecretary Raymond Knops also congratulated the winners and especially the MFK on their victory. “I have since been in contact with Mr. Pisas and the governor. In those conversations I indicated that I am counting on a continuation of the good cooperation that I have had with the government in recent years.”

Knops says he has been in contact with Prime Minister Rhuggenaath and has also thanked him for the excellent cooperation and his leadership.
