Falcón–ABC Trade Grows in 2025, Boosting Supplies to Curaçao

Main news | By Correspondent December 24, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Exports from the Venezuelan state of Falcón to the ABC islands have increased significantly in 2025, strengthening trade links with Curaçao, as well as Aruba and Bonaire.

According to official figures released by the government of Falcón, more than 1,900 tonnes of goods were exported through its ports in November 2025 alone. That brings total exports for the year to over 16,700 tonnes, representing a 24 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Trade with the ABC islands accounted for a substantial share of that growth. More than 1,500 tonnes of products were shipped to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao via 35 sailings from the ports of Guaranao, La Vela de Coro and Tucacas. Exports to the islands rose by 13 percent between October and November 2025.

Key products destined for the ABC islands include fresh agricultural goods such as plantains, watermelon, lemons, cucumbers, coconuts, avocados, aloe vera, tomatoes, papaya and bell peppers. In addition, shipments also included charcoal and molybdenum concentrate, commodities that play a role in regional supply chains.

For Curaçao, the figures underline the island’s continued dependence on nearby Venezuelan production areas for fresh produce and raw materials, despite years of political and economic turbulence in Venezuela. Traders on the island have long pointed to Falcón as one of the most important source regions for affordable agricultural imports, given its proximity and established maritime routes.

While Curaçao remains the main destination within the ABC group, Aruba and Bonaire also benefit from the increased export volumes, particularly in fresh produce that supports local markets and the tourism sector.

The government of Falcón stated that the growth in exports reflects the renewed activity of local producers and exporters and is part of a broader strategy aimed at economic transformation. Regional authorities emphasized that the expansion of trade with neighboring Caribbean islands fits within Venezuela’s national development agenda and efforts to diversify non-oil exports.

For Curaçao and the other ABC islands, the rising export figures highlight the practical importance of regional trade ties at a time when supply security and price stability remain key concerns for consumers and businesses alike.
