WILLEMSTAD - The Pro Monumento and DoCoMOMo foundations have taken legal action to stop the demolition of Cinelandia.
On Saturday, Minister Zita Jesus-Leito ordered the owner to tear down the building in Punda within a month due to the risk of collapse.
The former and now dilapidated open-air movie theater is a monument and should be preserved as far as the façade is concerned, the foundations say. But it is too late for that now, says the minister.
