WILLEMSTAD - The COVID-19 figures are promising with only eleven new infections, but caution remains advised. In Aruba, a patient from Curaçao died from the consequences of the COVID-19 virus.
The Epidemiology Department reports that of the 495 people tested, eleven were infected with Covid-19. A considerable decrease compared to the already more favorable figures of the past few days. The number of active infections decreases with 114 patients recovered to 1,108 cases.
Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth explains clearly that he sees a downward trend. Nevertheless, he warns against too much optimism.
Gerstenbluth: "The trend is clearly a downward one, but let's remain cautious." The population could become too much careless due to the falling figures and no longer comply with the measures. The epidemiologist therefore warns people to be careful and to keep their distance, to observe hygiene measures and to continue to wear a facemask.
The figures from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) also show a downward trend. There are currently 62 COVID-19 patients in the CMC, 29 of whom are in intensive care. In Aruba, after the death of a patient, four patients from Curaçao are still in the intensive care unit of the Horacio Oduber Hospital.
