WILLEMSTAD - Last night around eleven o'clock, the Rescue & Coordination Center (RCC) of the Coast Guard spotted a suspicious contact on the radar heading towards Curacao. The Support Center on Parera was immediately informed and dispatched a Metal Shark to carry out an interception.
The go-fast was intercepted by the Metal Shark squad a mile off the coast of Caracas Bay. Two warning shots were fired to force the boat to stop. On board they found twelve (12) men, six (6) women, all of Venezuelan nationality, and two exotic birds of the Wacamaya type.
All persons have been handed over to the police and the birds to the veterinary service.
