Government extends corona measures

Main news | By Correspondent September 23, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The current corona measures in Curaçao will be extended until October 15. This was announced during the Report of the Day.

“The number of infections is still putting a lot of pressure on healthcare,” said epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth. The so-called 'seven day moving average' is still going up, while these numbers should actually decrease. “If the numbers increase, new measures will have to be taken,” Gerstenbluth warns.

Of the 165 people admitted to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) in the period from July 22 to September 20, only three patients were fully vaccinated.

39 people have been tested positive for the corona virus today. A total of 1,791 tests were administered.

The number of hospital admissions currently stands at 30. Fourteen of these are in intensive care.

56 persons were declared cured. One person tested positive, but this turned out to be incorrect. This brings the total number of active infections to 491.

The epidemiologist calls for people to keep their distance from each other and emphasizes that we must continue to vaccinate.
