Government of Curaçao evaluates corona measures

Main news | By Correspondent August 28, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The government and crisis team of Curaçao are evaluating the current corona measures that apply on the island. A decision will also be made shortly on whether or not to extend the emergency law.

New measures were introduced on Friday 13 August. For example, there is a curfew from 24:00 to 04:30 and companies and catering establishments are allowed to receive a maximum of one hundred visitors. Loud music and dancing are prohibited.

"The number of corona infections per day is stable, but still worrying," Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth emphasized during the Report of the Day on Friday. "As long as the figures remain like this, the high pressure on healthcare will continue."

The measures were introduced for three weeks, until September 3. The government is in consultation about the continuation of the measures and the possible extension of the emergency law, the State Ordinance on State of Exception.
