WILLEMSTAD - The Pisas government itself has contacted the lawyers of Hushang Ansary. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas stated in parliament last week that Ansary's lawyers would have contacted the government to stop the lawsuit filed by the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) on behalf of the ENNIA insurance company. According to the local Dutch newspaper Antilliaans Dagblad, this does not appear to be the case.

According to the newspaper, government lawyer Rutsel Martha appears to be the driving force behind the talks. He stated that the government wanted to make inquiries in the event that ENNIA collapsed due to the CBCS lawsuit filed against Ansary. “This can create new debts for Curaçao. This could make the island more dependent on the Netherlands,” said Martha.

The newspaper writes that Ansary has received a formal invitation from a minister. At the video meeting, Pisas and ministers Javier Silvania, Charles Cooper, all from the MFK party and Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia of the PNP party were present. Ralph Palm, former executive of the insurance company, also joined the discussion.
