WILLEMSTAD - The government recently had a presentation on the Steamboat Fuels project. An exact date is not mentioned in the government press release.
The company last week announced plans to build a pre-treatment plant for renewable raw materials at Bullen Bay. Steamboat has signed a letter of intent with Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) for the lease of a 4.7-hectare site.
Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, Minister of Finance Javier Silvania, Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga and Minister of Transport, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper were all present at the presentation given at Fort Amsterdam, the center of government.

Steamboat Fuels develops renewable energy raw material solutions. The facility to be built will have a capacity of 13,000 barrels of vegetable oil per day for diesel refining in America and Europe.
According to the press release, the investment in the installation has a major impact. For example, the cost of the entire installation and infrastructure would amount to more than 180 million dollars. Steamboat Fuels was also expected to create more than 600 temporary and 130 permanent jobs. These are likely to be filled by local employees, with the exception of foreign specialists.
The final investment decision will most likely be taken in the first quarter of this year. Then it will take 18 to 22 months to build the installation. The installation can be used immediately after construction.
The intention is to build several installations.
