Governor wants answers to problems regarding the Giro Bank

WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha has announced that Governor Lucille George-Wout will soon be able to expect an answer to questions she has about a country decision with a solution to the problems surrounding the Giro Bank.

The government wants to come up with a solution and the governor has questions about that, says Gijsbertha. He also wants to inform Parliament this week.

With his statements, Gijsbertha acknowledges the issue of the National Decree (LB), which authorizes him as a minister to take certain decisions, and to have discussed this with the governor beforehand. It is the intention that George-Wout, after receiving satisfactory answers, will countersign the LB. This is necessary for the LB to become law.

The minister also indicated that he would approach parliament with a request for a meeting with the Curaçao people's representation. "I want to make sure that everyone is on board," explains Gijsbertha.
