WILLEMSTAD - In the negotiations CORC has with the government and Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK), many different aspects have to be taken into account, including permits, permissions and investments.
According to Manoel Hussein de Silva de Freitas, director of CORC, several major investments will immediately be made when the final agreement is signed. This includes the recovery of the refinery within six to nine months and the installation of a gas installation.
CORC will be fully committed to the project and associated investments. In addition to repairing and installing new installations, CORC will also focus on improving the quality and volume of the products.
It is expected that more than a billion will be invested.
What must be considered is the 'nuisance permit', which expires in December 2024. If it is not (or cannot be) renewed, there is a good chance that the refinery will have to close its doors after all.
De Freitas indicates that the CORC team has carried out an analysis together with the government and that an agreement has been reached that CORC agrees with. Now the next phase of the process can be started.
