IOM announces the start of the registration process for the voucher assistance for undocumented migrants in Curaçao

Main news | By Press release June 24, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The International Organization for Migration has recently started a large-scale food aid project funded by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable undocumented migrants in Curaçao. The project focuses on providing support to the target population to access basic needs by way of electronic vouchers. The e-vouchers will allow selected migrants that qualify to receive this support to purchase food for the duration of the project in a variety of supermarkets.

A selection procedure will be applied in accordance with IOM guidelines to assess the eligibility for the food aid program. This assessment serves to have a better overview of individuals’ and families’ situation. As such, it is important to mention that each case will be assessed individually based on set of criteria determined by IOM. On the basis hereof the most vulnerable undocumented migrants in the Curaçaoan society will be assisted. It is important to note that this is a new registration and selection process, therefore persons previously receiving this assistance will be re-assessed. The procedure requires that the persons in need apply via an online survey. Once their information is validated an appointment will be scheduled with each person to collect the allocated e-voucher or food package at the nearest community center. Please be advised that the first distribution will be in the form of food kits and will then transition to voucher assistance.

The food aid program aims to meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable undocumented migrants. In order to register, the persons in need are requested to register via the following online survey:
