Knops: “Curaçao has taken the necessary steps for the seventh tranche”

THE HAGUE - Curaçao has taken the necessary steps to qualify for the seventh tranche of liquidity support from the Netherlands. Undersecretary of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Raymond Knops, announced this in a letter to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament.

Knops stated earlier that he was concerned about the lack of established plans of approach regarding reforms of the tax authorities, minimizing losses at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) and the implementation of the package of measures at the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). In addition, Curaçao also had to determine the implementation agenda for the fourth quarter for the seventh tranche.

“Curaçao has now taken the necessary steps with regard to these points,” the undersecretary wrote to the second chamber. “Substantive risks and concerns about implementation remain. In order to limit this, further agreements have been made in the implementation agenda and progress is closely monitored.”

The Kingdom Council of Ministers has decided that Curaçao has met the conditions set and therefore allocates 76 million guilders in liquidity support for the fourth quarter of 2021.
