Knops: Curaçao meets the conditions for payment of liquidity support

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has met all the conditions to be eligible for payment of the first part of the sixth liquidity support. In total, an amount of 168 million is available for the third quarter.

Undersecretary Knops wrote this to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament today. One of the conditions was a written confirmation from Prime Minister Pisas that both his cabinet and the Parliament support the agreements made last year to establish the Caribbean Body for Reform and Development (COHO) to help the country through the corona crisis.

“On July 6, I received a letter with annexes in which the Pisas government indicates that they meet the conditions for the first part of the sixth tranche of liquidity support. In consultation with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, I have determined that Curaçao has sufficiently met the five conditions set for the first partial tranche so that the corresponding resources can be allocated," said Knops.

The remaining part of the sixth tranche will be transferred as soon as it is clear that the Pisas cabinet is cooperating in formulating the response of the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom to the critical advice of the Council of State on the drafting of the COHO Kingdom Act.
