Knops: “Things have to change for improvement on the islands”

THE HAGUE - During the budget debate in the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, Undersecretary Raymond Knops of Kingdom Relations once again advocated changes in the Caribbean islands.

“If we keep doing things in the same way, then we shouldn't be surprised that the same results will come out,” says Knops.

The debate focused mainly on the third tranche. The undersecretary maintains that conditions must remain attached to liquidity support. "If no reforms take place, everything will remain the same and the Netherlands wants things to become better," says Knops.

In the chamber, the parties agree that the Netherlands respects the autonomy of the islands. People think differently on the islands. Different parties think differently about the participation of the islands.
