Liquidity support to CAS countries was “probably” effective

Main news | By Correspondent April 8, 2022

THE HAGUE - The liquidity support to Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten has "probably" been effective, but substantiation is not possible due to the lack of reliable data. This is apparent from an evaluation that was discussed today in the Kingdom Council of Ministers. So far, the Netherlands has provided more than 1 billion euros in interest-free corona loans to the CAS countries.

In accordance with expectations, the Kingdom Council of Ministers also decided to extend the Financial Supervision Act by 3 years. The Curaçao state council, currently Paul Comenencia, has been awarded a salary increase from 4,250 to 7,444 euros. Furthermore, the RMR has decided to make an effort to include Papiamento in the European Charter for regional languages on behalf of Bonaire.
