WILLEMSTAD - Containers from various business owners and companies have been moored at the yard for a long time.
The containers with their contents are fixed on the site without the business owners being able to reach them. According to sources, the problem would not lie with customs, but with a shortage of chassis, or the undercarriage of the containers.
Customs checks all documents of the containers, but if there is no chassis, the containers cannot be transported to their destination. In addition, containers must be collected from the yard in order. If a container is stuck in the front, other containers cannot get out.
Sources also indicate that they have information showing that seven containers from the new Sandals resort have been stuck at the yard for some time. It would be containers with material to complete work at the resort.
