ORANJESTAD - The Aruban parties MEP and RAIZ have signed a coalition agreement after more than five weeks in the formation process. Both parties spoke to 101 community stakeholders during the trial.
According to MEP leader Evelyn Wever-Croes, the formation process took longer than usual due to the talks with the residents of the island. “The coalition agreement is the foundation of all these talks,” said Wever-Croes.
The presentation of the coalition agreement took place in San Nicolas. “This town is much more than a refinery,” emphasizes RAIZ leader Ursell Arends. The coalition parties indicate that the economic growth of San Nicolas is really coming. It is not yet clear how the government intends to do this.
The agreement contains eleven basis points. Integrity and good governance are at the top of the list. The well-being of the elderly and young people, with an emphasis on care and guidance, also has a high priority. Other topics that the government will work on are justice and security, education and the balance between economic growth and the environment.
Who will receive which ministerial posts will be announced in the coming days.
