WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Meteorological Service (Meteo) has just announced code red for a tropical storm approaching Curaçao. The storm is currently 1,160 kilometers southeast of the islands.
The color code red is used 36 hours in advance of a tropical storm. The government recommends providing a safe place and sufficient water and food.
The storm is expected to extend south of Curaçao in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The weather will become more turbulent in the course of Wednesday. The Meteo predicts wind speeds of tropical storm force, rough seas and heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
The government will give a press conference at 7 pm to talk about the latest developments regarding the weather situation in Curaçao.
