WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is strengthening its position as a serious and responsible player in the international gaming industry, according to Shalten Hato, Minister of Justice and the official responsible for gaming regulation on the island.

In a public statement, Hato reflected on Curaçao’s participation in ICE Gaming, the world’s largest international gaming conference, which brings together participants from 186 countries. The event, held in Barcelona, was described by the minister as a key moment for Curaçao and its rapidly evolving gaming sector.

During the conference, the Curaçao Gaming Authority engaged in a series of important discussions with Curaçao-based license holders. These talks focused on the continued development of the sector, regulatory challenges, and new opportunities emerging within the global gaming market.

According to Hato, ICE provided Curaçao with a valuable platform to connect with international industry stakeholders, reinforce its image as a reliable and responsible jurisdiction, and gain firsthand insight into innovations shaping the future of gaming worldwide. He emphasized that the exchange of ideas and experiences at such events is essential for further strengthening Curaçao’s supervisory framework and safeguarding integrity within the sector.

The minister underlined that Curaçao’s presence at ICE aligns with broader efforts to modernize regulation, enhance oversight, and position the island as a trusted partner in the global gaming industry. As international scrutiny of online gaming continues to grow, Curaçao aims to balance economic opportunity with robust regulation and accountability.
