WILLEMSTAD - Finance Minister Javier Silvania has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the tax authorities work behind the scenes during TV Direct's recordings.
During the broadcast, a meeting took place between the minister and representatives of the Tax Inspectorate and BearingPoint. Afterwards, head of the inspectorate, Jamilia Esenia, explained to Silvania that there are still about 30,000 income tax returns for 2019 to be processed.
Because Bearingpoint's new software system is not yet working optimally, most requests have to be entered manually. “We paid a fortune for a software program that can handle only 5% of returns online,” said an irritated Silviana. “Such a low level of productivity, that is really not possible.”
On Wednesday, the minister announced via his Facebook page that he would issue an ultimatum. The Inspectorate of Taxes has until December 31 to impose all assessments for 2019.
